We built a minimal viable product (MVP) that works well and that can demonstrate the idea of the CaseLabs platform, which consists of the major parts. On the front-end, we used React.js to create a dynamic and intuitive interface for students. We worked closely with the client’s team to integrate the back-end API, ensuring fluid data flow and operational efficiency.
The platform sustains a step-by-step case analysis procedure for learners:
- Case Catalog: From this section, students can browse and select available cases from the list to start their practice.
- Intro: Setting the scene for the student begins with a description of the medical situation, before proceeding to a patient consultation.
- Consultation: This section simulates a conversation with a patient.
- Examine, Blood, Urine, & X-Ray: To gather more information about the clinic case, students can review medical data, such as blood and urine test results, physical examination findings, and interactive X-ray images with a zoom function.
- Clinical Reasoning: To demonstrate clinical reasoning skills and complete the exam, students must answer a series of questions in this section.
- Review: After the exam is done, students can review their results alongside a detailed breakdown of their performance.
Across the case, learners can utilize the embedded note-taking function to log their findings and logic, much like they would in an actual medical environment.
